Writing

I write the long form of what I design.

What UI designers ship when AI ships the screens — five essays, each one argued in prose and built as working software.

The AI × Design section on my home page is the ninety-second version of this argument. These are where it comes from: 2,400 to 5,400 words apiece, built on primary sources, each carrying live demos that demonstrate the claim instead of illustrating it.

All five are with editors right now. I’m placing them with publications that ask for first publication, so the full text isn’t posted here yet — each essay opens on this page the day its venue is settled.

    HSL Is Lying to You

HSL's third axis measures arithmetic, not light. Harmless while palettes were chosen; structural now that they are computed.

    Fast Is a Feeling

Performance has two halves. The design half has been quantified for decades and is now graded by the platform.
